Hi, for the last week I’ve been experiencing abdominal pain on the left side and on Friday night whilst laying in bed I discovered a lump just beneath my rib cage on the left. 

I was instructed by 111 to go to A&E which I did on Saturday night. They thought the pain could be attributed to kidney stones but stayed quiet on the lump and suggested they will refer me for a CT scan. Now I’m anxiously awaiting a phone call to book the CT scan appointment. How long roughly do you wait for an NHS CT scan? Is it worth paying to go private to expedite this process? With Christmas coming up, I’m worried that I won’t have any answers and nothing will progress now until January.
