Here is some information on blood tests to diagnose, which might be useful. It might be a good idea to write down any questions you have for the doctor when you get the results, hopefully they'll be able to address your concerns once you know more. In the meantime, try to put your worries out of your mind. There are some great tips here.

Sorry to hear you are going through this hell and at Christmas too. I was diagnosed just before Christmas with bowel cancer 6 years ago. The stool test showed blood? could this be from piles or other bowel problems? I have to say when I had my cancer for some reason my stool sample came back normal even though I chose the bit with blood in to send off so I can't explain what happened there. What are your other symptoms? I would have thought if they suspected bowel cancer they would have sent you straight for a colonoscopy. This would give you a yes or no answer on the day. Have you got your results yet from the blood tests?

Thanks for replying. I've had dark red blood in my stools for some months now. Stupid I know to leave it but I didn't have any other symptoms so I assumed it was piles. Then a few weeks ago I felt after every bowel movement I still needed to go. My stools are very soft with blood in. Also my upper abdomen aches and pain in my upper the right side of my back. I'm still waiting for blood results but I've just this morning had a call to say I've got a phone call appointment on the 23rd with someone from the colorectal clinic this is to replace a face to face due to COVID then they will book me in for a colonoscopy from there. 

I'm absolutely terrified now because my Dad passed away from his battle  with bowel cancer he was diagnosed at 58 and I'm 48.

You are with the right people to sort whatever it is you are dealing with. The colorectal specialist nurses I have met are lovely. Have a pen and paper ready for your phone call.

Bowel cancer is more treatable these days, it is one of the most common types of cancer and IF this is what you are dealing with there are treatments and surgery. If you are dealing with diverticulitis, which also bleeds they will treat this also. x
