Breast lump and swolen axillary lymph node

Hi ladies. I recently found a pretty big lump in my inner left breast, roughly 2cm, it feels long, I would say more of an oval shape, it's not under the skin it feels more deep & fixed to other tissue but does move when I push it up.. Went strait to a gp who was surprised how big it was & also found a swolen lymph node in my arm pit, so put me on an urgent referral, when I asked what the connection was between the lump & lymph node he said when breast lumps are cancerous it tends to go to the lymph nodes first so I've been in a state of panic ever since. I don't have my appointment until Dec 22nd. I have children & I'm petrified that i am ill with breast cancer. I have been having night sweats for about 12 months since having my baby so now I'm thinking that's another sign! I keep googling & that just tells me I have breast cancer! Keep crying & can't take my mind off it. Has anyone had a similar experience? X

  • Hi,

I am in the similar position. Found large mobile lump coiple weeks ago, was sent as an urgent referral by GP and was seen today at breast clinic. The doctor who did initial check said she is not so worried as lump seemed mobile and I have in general lumpy breasts but was sent for an ultrasound. This is where my hell began, the radiologist found 4 suspisious lumps in total in the same breast as well as 3 enlarged lymph nodes. She took two biopsies and now I need to wait at least till 29th of December for my results. She didn't take biopsy from lymph nodes as first we need lump results. I am in absolute shock. I have finished breastfeeding 3 montsh ago and have two very young children 6 years old and 9 months and I am torn into pieces. All research shows tht if it goes into lymph nodes it means it has spread and the prognosis is not good. Don't know how to cope with this. How to keep a smile on Christmas knowing this is already so bad.

  • Hi Gaga1987. Really sorry to hear of what you are going through, I totally understand, it's so frightening. I've had a gp and specialist so far to examine my lump, all seems to be pointing more towards a benign cyst or fibroadenoma but I have a scan and possible biopsy next week which I'm really anxious about as I know that is the only way to confirm what it is. I've got a feeling of dread incase it actually isn't benign. I hope your biopsy results come back with good news. Message me any time of you need a chat about it xxxx

  • Thanks for your reply. It is the scariest and most traumatic experience I have ever had to go through, the emotional distress is insane to the point of panic attacks. I was prescribed Diapozone to calm down by my GP so was able to fall asleep tonight, will go out for a walk with my family. I am dreading the prognosis, now my hopes are it is still treatable and I will be able to see my children growing up. I have joined a group on FB and it is so reassuring to speak to women who are currently going through this.

  • Yes it has been for me too, I'm also a mum so I'm petrified of the final outcome. It's made me bad. I understand exactly how you feel. It definitely causes a great deal of anxiety! That's good you have joined a group to share with other women going through this, every little helps. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.. Keep me posted on how you get on! Lots of love xx

  • Hi I know it's a while scince you've been on this but I have the same symptoms now and am wondering how you got on as I am out my mind with worry xxxx
