Anxiety

For the past few weeks I've had pain in my abdomen and lower back. I googled the symptoms (terrible choice I know) and after speaking with my gp have been referred for a ultrasound and a ca125 blood test. I was diagnosed with early stage cancerous cells of the cervix a few years ago and had colposcopy with loop therapy and have been fine ever since. I've always suffered from anxiety and the wait to have these tests is flaring that up, how does everyone else cope when awaiting results or tests.

  • Hello Natpants70,

Welcome to Cancer Chat! You're absolutely right - googling symptoms is never a great idea as it inevitably brings up worst case scenarios making us even more anxious. So if you are prone to anxiety, this will only make things worse. It's best to stay well away from this unreliable Dr Google.

I hope you won't have to wait too long for your ultrasound and CA125 blood test results. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted. There is useful information on this page on how to cope while waiting which I hope will be helpful to you.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
