problem with understanding situation i am actually stuck in

Hello,

I have occured very odd situation during my recovery from accident. One year passed from my accident and becuase of shortness of breath i attended to hospital to make further test (i suffer from Asthma). X ray, blood test, CT test and ultrasound of leg have been made and doctor ensured me i am fine - i got only blood thinner for faster healing my leg. Next step was MRI and according to orthopedic department my leg is most likely recovering very well but they found lesion and sent me to the Cancer service in the same time ensuring me i do not have cancer.

And here started odd part. According to cancer service after they analyze all data (CT,XRAY,MRI, UKTRASOUND, BLOOD TEST) I have cancer sarcoma and biopsy was scheduled alongside with contact with oncologist. Can you help me understand whether I was mistreat by first hospital who simple could not properly read my XRAY AND CT SCAN AND ULTRASOUND to tell me cancer has spreaded already? I am confused and I do not understand situation especially that swelling in my leg is decreasing thanks to blood thinner and I am probably what suffering from sarcoma almost a year?

All information about sarcoma on the website are tricky. I have no information what the hell is going on. I will be calmly if you explaining me about sarcoma more in English less in medical and stats language. What is the survive rates? It means I am going to die after 1 years (collapse or drop dead)? Or after 1 years brain tumor is going to kill me? If I take chemo I will automatically get a new cancer? How with no biopsy and in theoretically clear data found cancer with no biopsy for gods sake??? I have got no information from anyone. Cancer center behaved that i am already dead - behaved like sarcoma already killed me - with no biopsy they refered me to Sarcoma department with no proof it is sarcoma??? What the hell is going on ????????????

  • Hello Joannaadjos,

it can be difficult to understand a diagnosis because you need some knowledge in the first place in order to ask the right questions to get the right answers.Your post is not overly clear but it seems you are saying you damaged a leg in an accident and during follow on treatment a sarcoma has been identified in the leg.You do not say what type of sarcoma or its positioning, bone or soft tissue ect, since their are a nuber of different types.Soft tissue sarcomas for instance are considered to be very fast spreading, developing in just 26 weeks,so it could be the case that you have been fortunate that the hospital picked up on this whilst checking your primary injury.

Obviously the best people to ask are the doctors treating you,but hopefully one of the excellent nurses on this site will pick up this post and give you a more qualified response.Of course you also have the option to telephone them and get more information on what questions you should be asking in order for you to get a better understanding of your diagnosis. The nurse helpline is 0808 800 4040 and l hope this post is helpful,
