Worrying for my wife

My wife had Breast Cancer 8 years ago and we believed she was now ok. She recently when to her GP with Pink patches on her breast and they did a mammogram. At first, they said all was clear but at a follow-up appointment, the specialist said they had discovered two small ( so small they needed a magnifier to see) two patches of calcium and the cancer was back. The hospital people set up with the usual scans and she had an ultrasound followed by a CT scan.  We have an appointment with the Oncologist tomorrow where we may get these results but I'm so scared for both of us. I don't want her to have got cancer anywhere else although her consultant says if there is any they can "fix" it. The ultrasound was clear

I love my wife so very much and I know I can't face life without her I just don't know what to do. She has no pains anywhere and leads a normal healthy life. but I'm so scared

  • Hello Bacon4139

I'm sorry to hear that your wife is facing breast cancer again. It sounds as if the Consultant was really positive about things after the first appointment.

How did you both get on yesterday? I hope that the results of the rest of the tests were back and they were able to offer you some answers and reassurance.

If there's anything that you'd like to speak to one of our nurses about then you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Do let us know how you're doing.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you Jenn for your kind reply. We had the results and no spread to the major organs. The consultant said that there was a problem with her lymph nodes on the left-hand side though so she now has bilateral problems. Yesterday we went to the hospital for a second ultrasound on her left side and the doc there took 5 biopsies on the same side. My wife then had a bone scan. We shan't get the results until next week but I am dreading what is to come. I'm praying that she is going to be ok with the results but again I'm told that there doing this to find the correct treatment.

My wife is carrying on as normal, wrapping Christmas presents etc but I can't just get my head around them.  I am so scared of losing her although her friend's mother had a similar thing and is till alive 19 years later.

We have been married 32 years and I don't want it to end now I love my wife so much and hope she can be put right. The consultants are confident nut I'm not.

    Thanks again for your reply
