So afraid I have ovarian cancer. Ca125 raised

Hi all, I've been reading lots of posts on here about ovarian cancer and ca125.

ive been having pelvic pain (back and front), bloating, loss of appetite and urinary frequency at night. I've also had pain down my right leg. My last cycle (the only one I've tracked) was a 36 day.

Because of these symptoms I had bloods done and my ca125 came back as high. I was referred urgently. I'm off for a scan later today. I've been awake most the night because of the discomfort and the sheer panic.

im not even sure why I'm posting. Maybe to hear of some good outcomes?

im 32. I have three beautiful and young children and I'm completely torn to pieces by this and not coping well at all. I feel I can't possibly even go to this scan but obviously I absolutely have to.

im devastated that looking back I probably should have seen a doctor sooner.

one thing I'm confused about is how quickly my symptoms have progressed. I feel like the bloating and especially the pelvic pain and Horne frequency have got very uncomfortable over a matter of days. I read online ovarian cancer symptoms can come on suddenly.

i hope everyone here is well. I'm sorry for my rambles. I'm truly so frightened because I think I know they will have to find it today because my symptoms match so perfectly.

im trying to remain positive believe it or not but my mind just wanders to my children and I completely break down and can't cope.

any insights would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

kim

  • Hi Freckles,

It sounds like they are being extra careful to rule everything out. CA125 can be raised for a lot of reasons and the fact they're keeping you monitored is reassuring. Because of Covid having the small potential to delay people's treatments should they need it, I feel doctors are being EXTRA careful at the moment to catch anything small should it slip through the net and potentially become a bigger problem later. Given you probably listed your symptoms at your gynae appointment, they likely wanted further testing to just make extra sure there's nothing going on. That doesn't mean they think something is going on, just that they want to rule it out.

You had a clear ultrasound which is positive :)

Your symptoms could be caused by a lot of benign things too, so try not to worry just yet.
I hope your MRI and tests bring you the best news x

  • Hi there

thanks for responding again. Yes I'm hoping they are just being extra cautious rather than suspecting something necessarily.

it's very hard because I know something is just not right and I feel so uncomfortable now all the time.

    xx

  • Sounds like they're at least being thorough. I hope you're doing ok. It's all so worrying. I'm not too bad. Managing to keep my mind on other things. It the night times that I find worst. Hoping I find some answers before Christmas but not sure with my scan being on the 18th.

    Take care

  • I also find night times the hardest. But it's also just tainting everything now, even in the day when the kids keep me so busy. Constant worry. Not sure more than a few minutes go by without me thinking about it all.

I'm glad they're being thorough. It's just waiting for each test results, big and small is torturous.

I did an at home feacal blood test this morning which was negative. Makes me feel a bit better because obviously with ca125 having a link with colon cancer etc.

I'll be thinking of you on Friday. If you want to talk I'm here x

  • Hi,

How are you doing? Hope you're doing ok.

Good news re your fecal blood test. All these findings help. I'm doing ok - just wish the scan was done and out of the way and that I knew the outcome.

Thanks for your well wishes. It nice to know that we're not alone.

Same goes for you - if you need to talk I'm here too

    Take care
