Urgent referral to the breast clinic...

Hiya,

I have been experiencing breast pains and armpit pain for about 2 weeks but yesterday it was unbearable. This led to a phone call consultation with the doctor who urged I had to go to my doctors out of hours clinic.

During the appointment she told me about a hard swollen lump under my arm pit but there were no lumps in my breast. She wanted to refer me to the breat clinic right away as she didnt see any sign of infections.

I am just waiting for the phone call for my appointment but waiting for them to call is so nerve-racking, if anyone can offer some advice about what actually happens in the first appointment please?

H xx

  • Hi there ...

Firstly please know 8.5 out of ten lumps are benign.... and the younger you are the odds are even better.. l wish I'd known that on my first four call backs from mamorgrams over the years.... I'd not have panicked each time ... they came out fine ...

You may have a mamorgram and scan .. and sometimes a biopsy ... but still try not to panic as biopsy is the one sure way of knowing one way or the other ... and even if it is a cancer, the treatments have come a long way ... but one step at a time ... fingers crossed ... just keep as busy as possible ... let us know how it goes ..  Chrissie....
