Hi everyone!
I had a hysteroscopy on Thursday and a flexible sigmoidoscopy on Monday! My symptoms are heavy bleeding (with A LOT OF CLOTTING) , painful intercourse, lower back pain, nausea, pelvic pain, pain in legs, severe anaemia and bleeding from the back passage.
My GP was great and I had scans which found thickened and heterogeneous endometrium so was referred to the hospital. The appointment took three weeks.
The doctor I saw (before procedure) made me feel silly for being there and basically told me they wouldn’t find anything to worry about as I’m only 38!
Anyway they found a polyp, too large to remove at the time so I’m to go back to be put to sleep to remove it. I also had biopsies taken as I did on Monday with the sigmoidoscopy.
I know that most of the time polyps aren’t a cause for concern but I also know that when they are large risk of malignancy is increased and also with the symptoms I have especially the worsening anaemia doesn’t paint a good picture.
I also have heart disease so can’t help thinking that if I’m going to be under GA anyway, they should do a hysterectomy to save any possible future need for another’s GA. my partner has had a vasectomy plus I have had nine children and both my mother and sister had to have the procedure younger than I am now. I have been told that due to my age and funding I cannot have a hysterectomy despite my symptoms making every day life so hard!
can anyone offer some words of wisdom or reassurance? Xx
