Lymphoma symptoms

I have found a small baked bean shaped lump on the right hand side of my neck about 4 fingers down from the bottom of my ear lobe. It isn't painful. It is firm and rubbery abs when I touch it it moves from side to side.

I am a little tired but I think I always am at this time of year and I also have a little girl who isn't a great sleeper and I work full time. I am having the odd night sweat but I don't know if they are linked to my cycle or because I am forgetting to turn the heating off.

My main question is how often is getting night sweats a cause for concern and how tired is enough to class as fatigue?

Thanks in advance for any replies :)

  • Hi Tina-Lou! Nice to meet you, my name's Cat.

I'm sorry if what you're going through right now is causing you any concern. It's natural for things to play on your mind, especially once you start thinking it might be cancer.

Everyone's different when it comes to these things and how our bodies handle signs and symptoms, but if I can help in any way by sharing what I personally experienced then I will!

I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma in late 2018. After six months of chemotherapy treatment I went into remission. It all started when I found a small bean shaped node on the left side of my neck - didn't hurt and moved pretty easily when I touched it. About a month later I felt another lump that'd formed, about the same size as the first and they were very near to one another. Soon after, swelling developed around them. I experienced night sweats - got them regularly, I'd say most nights during a week. I'd wake up with my skin and pyjamas drenched, almost as if I'd gone for a swim. I'm sorry, I can't give a reliable answer in regard to fatigue - in my case I experienced it every day back then because I was exercising frequently. I underwent problems with my skin itching - especially my feet which got so bad that nothing relieved them and on some occasions it felt as though they were burning. I have had eczema for years but never before had it reached that point. All I know is that I experienced the excessive itchiness along with my other symptoms and it deteriorated in time, however it thankfully stopped altogether once I started treatment.

I really hope something I said has helped. I'm sorry if it hasn't. If there's anything else you want to know about my experience, feel free to ask away. If I may ask, have you contacted your GP to query what you're going through? It's possible that it may not be anything, but it's always better to be safe than sorry.

Sending my best to you and your daughter in these times.

  • Hi Cat

Thank you for your reply and sharing your story and it definitely has helped me decide to go and see my GP.

It is booking the appointment that is my next step but I am currently self isolating after being in close contact with someone with COVID. I don't know if doctors are seeing patients that are isolating.

    xx

  • Hi Tina-Lou!

I'm still trying to learn how to navigate this website (I'm useless with technology) and it hadn't notified me that you'd replied!

Sorry for the random continuation of this conversation but how is everything? Were you able to see your GP?

    Really hope you're well.
