Inconclusive Biospy results

Hi.

I have had months of feeling exhausted.  Abdominal pains constipation the diahorria pain which causes me to vomit and dark blood within my stool.  Blood results show Anemia low haemoglobin levels and a Vitimin D deficiency.  Stabbing pains in the top of my arms and my whole body shaking.

I have had a very painful colonoscopy in which the Dr said he has tattooed a 'malignant stricture' as took biopsies of as he suspects it is cancer.  He did not give me any other options of what could have caused this inflammation and told me I needed to have an Urgent CT Scan to see if it is locked just in that one area and not spread from outside the colon.

I have just had the CT Scan results (over the phone) which I think is very positive as it is only located within that area and nothing sinister can be seen anywhere else.  They also told me the biopsies have not come back to stipulate it is cancer and there is no signs colitis and I need to go back and have more biopsies taken as they don't what it is.

I'm not sure if this is good news or bad.  Can it still be Cancer???? if its not cancer and not colitis what else could it be as they said they don't know what to do about it if its not cancer but im still not feeling myself Im still exhausted...I'm so confused and not sure what to think.

  • Hello MeakyMouse

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with these health problems over the past few months. It sounds as if they have really impacted your life and I can understand why you're feeling so anxious and confused about things.

It's unfortunate that the biopsy results didn't give any answers as to what may be causing your problems but as you've said it is good news that nothing else was picked up on the CT scan. Hopefully the further tests that the Consultant wants to run will shed some light on things.

We know that this period of uncertainty can be particularly difficult for many people. It can help to talk things through with someone and so I wanted to give you the contact information for our team of nurses. I'm sure they would be able to offer some advice and support. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that you have some answers soon.

    Best wishes,
