Fast tracked after ultrasound and cyst

Hi,

I haven't posted on here before. I have had pain in my left hip, back and pelvis so was referred for a scan which I had today. I have two cysts on my right ovary, one is fine. The other I presume not as I had to make an appointment for 6 weeks which I did but she then said I should have the ca125 test, I said I had and it was 36. I went home thinking at least there wasn't a huge tumour but then had a call to say she had looked at my scans again and as my Ca125 was raised she'd fast track me to a gynaecologist. I asked her if it could be cancer and she said yes. I don't have many people to talk to about this, I'm on my own except for my lovely dog .

  • Hello,

    Sorry you feel this way.

Im in a similar situation to yourself. Ovarian cysts.

    Ongoing scans and blood tests.
CA125 levels can be raised for so many reasons. Mine were raised last year and the cyst came back benign. I know it's so easy to say, but wait to see a specialist who can discuss this with you. As you think cancer and you think the worst.

Im so sorry you feel alone but it's great you've posted for some support. Stay strong & I wish you all the best xx

  • Thank you very much, I shall look into all those things. I'm on my 6th cup of green tea this evening...won't help with the weeing!!

Thank you very much. I'm feeling more positive.  If it is cancer I will do my best to beat it. I was just feeling down on Thursday after she rang and I panicked.  There are alot of happy outcomes on here and people are lovely. X

  • Hi, thank you so much. How are you feeling? That's great that yours was benign last year. Did you have to have it removed?

My brother, dad and best friend have been brilliant and whatever it is I'm more prepared so if it isn't bad I'll be so happy.

I hope all goes well with your scans and tests xx

  • Hello,

Thank you for your reply. I'm glad you have your family, and your dog of course!

Yes I've had three removed now, relatively large.
They referred me urgently for all the cysts I have had so far as I was going into urinary retention and they found a solid composite in the cyst alongside the ca125.

This year I had another cyst. Unfortunately I was told I have cervical or ovarian cancer. However my CA125 levels were normal. I'm still waiting for confirmation. And still have discomfort from one cyst that they left in as it was too small to operate on.

From my experience, although the outcome wasn't what I expected. They fast track cysts a lot of the time if they have a solid inside. I suppose because of the CA125 levels are raised they would like to rule out the worst!

Ive coped well, as they mentioned a hysterectomy. However I don't have any children, I am only 23 so that's been difficult to cope with.

stay positive. Everyone has their own story and outcome. And I'm sure the wait will feel like a lifetime for you but I do hope everything turns out well for you.

  • I am so sorry, you've been through so much and you're only young. I'm glad you're coping. I really hope it goes well for you. Not knowing is awful. Stay strong x

  • I just thought I would update you. Finally had my ultrasound today. There were 4 in the room for it so that worried me. But they were all really friendly and chatted the whole time. There were no silences or moments to make me think anything sinister was seen. They are sending report to doc tomorrow. On my was out one of the girls said it all looked fine so I am relieved already. I hope you are doing ok.x
  • Hi,  oh that sounds really positive, she wouldn't have said anything if she had seen something worrying. I'm so pleased you've had the scan. There were 3 in the room when I had mine and they were chatting too which made me feel much better, nothing worse than silence!

I spoke to my doctor today as I hadn't heard about the fast track appointment. She was so lovely and said she was waiting for her own retest of ca125 as hers was raised too. She said that the cysts can cause it and also that 97% of fast track appointments turn out to not be cancer. Please let me know how you get on. It's sounding like you'll be absolutely fine x

  • Hi,

How are you? Just wondering if you had heard about your ultrasound results yet?

    X

  • Hi there, yes I had a phonecall from the doctor to say that the ultrasound was clear! Im sorry I should have let you know. Thank you for asking. I still feel very bloated and an having cramps and a heavy feeling down there. I am back to have my CA125 level checked in January so I suppose I may be more settled if that is down at that stage.

    How are you feeling?x

  • Brilliant about the ultrasound,  so pleased for you. I hope you feel better soon.

I'm fine thanks, my next appointment will be in a couple of weeks so I will know more then.

    X
