Breast swelling

In June my left breast really started to hurt, it felt heavy and like someone was pulling on me from inside, both a dull ache and stabbing pain all the time which just wasn't going away. In July I spoke to a doctor over the phone who advise to take paracetamol and call back if it doesn't disappear and due to my age (31) its prob nothing and may be down to periods etc.

I've been convincing myself all is ok and with a busy young family I've been putting it off terrified  (stupid I know)

The pain has suddenly got worse and over the weekend I noticed my left breast has really swollen! Its so painful and I finally spoke to a doctor Tuesday who saw me that evening who said although they can not find any definite lumps my lymph nodes are very swollen so have referred me for scans.

The hospital called today too see me this Saturday morning.

All this happening within 2-4 days have me panicked maybe the doctor didn't like what he could feel??

Also I've noticed since tuesday my left tonsil is massive and swollen and I've convinced myself what ever it is has spread all through my lymph nodes!

I'm trying not to panic but I can't stop crying.

Does anyone have experience of this?

Thank you

  • Hello Mrs_B2020

I just wanted to post to wish you all the best for your appointment tomorrow. Hopefully they may be able to give you some news tomorrow but depending on if you are going to breast clinic or for an ultrasound it may be that you have to wait for the results to come back to your GP next week.

It might help to keep in mind that the majority of women who are seen at breast clinic do not go on to be diagnosed with cancer.

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
