Tired of waiting

So I went to GP in January after 8 weeks of heavy bleeding and pain. They arranged to have a coil fitted. Back again in March. Ongoing bleeding and pelvic pain. Referred for tests which were cancelled due to lockdown.

Roll on to June... back to GP with bleeding, severe pelvic pain as well as severe pain from kidney round my left flank and into my abdomin. Loaded up with painkillers and told to await a referral for a ct scan... 7 weeks later it arrives. Tests come back clear for my abdomin but picked up an enlarged womb so referred for an internal ultrasound to diagnose the csuse... that was in September. Still no appointment through and GP says at this stage they can't do anything other than pain management.

I know it could be fibroids ... its that other part of me that just keeps asking 'what if'... and if it isn't fibroids then surely waiting all this time could make things so much worse. Am I just being totally paranoid?

  • Hello Lmax

I'm so sorry to hear about your ongoing health problems. I can imagine that it's difficult living with the daily symptoms you're experiencing and it's understandable that you're feeling anxious.

I wonder if it may be worth getting in touch with the department that you're waiting to attend and asking if they have a cancellation list. If you're able to attend for an outpatients appointment at short notice you may find that that they are able to offer you an appointment sooner.

It may help in the meantime for you to give our team of nurses a call and talk through your concerns with them. I'm sure they would be happy to offer some advice and support. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I do hope you don't have to wait too much longer for your next appointment and that things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
