2 week wait referral wait

Hi,

I found a lump in my right boob on the weekend. Spoke with my GP on Monday and got a call for 2ww clinic today but not until 22nd December. They are apparently over capacity. My sister had lobular breast cancer last year at the age of 36. I've just turned 40.
I'm pretty concerned that the 2 week wait is actually longer! I've called the clinic to see if I can be added to a waiting list for cancellations but they said no and would have to call daily to see.
Has anyone had any experience like this? I'm down in Cornwall and there is one clinic for the whole county.

  • Hello AFCornwall,

I am sorry to hear that you found this lump over the weekend. It's great that you acted so quickly though and saw the GP straight away. I can understand why you are feeling frustrated that you can't be seen sooner - it's good though that you have a date pencilled down and that it is not too far in the future. It's a shame that they are over capacity and that you can't be added to waiting list of cancellations. Keep trying to call them daily if that's the only way to check if there have been cancellations and I hope that you can be seen sooner.

I hope that you will hear from other ladies, perhaps some living down in the South West, who have had a similar experience. With only one clinic for the whole county, I can imagine they must be super busy and I hope that you get a cancellation and get seen very soon. If not, it won't be too long now until the 22nd - fingers tightly crossed for you!

    Best wishes,
