Not had a period in 2 months, GP not listening to my worries

Hello, I've not had cancer, but I am worried about my periods and GPs just seem to shrug it off.

For months, my periods have lasted over 7 days, going on 10 days. I'm well aware periods can change so didn't think much of it,  and just kept track of it. I saw a GP to even make sure and confirm that everything was fine and they didn't seem that bothered. My last period was in the beginning of October, I've not had one since. Over the past week, I've taken two ovulation tests and they have come out positive, I've also taken a pregnancy test and that has come back as negative. Past two days I've had sharp pains.  I've also had really bad break out across my chest, which used to be an indicator that I was due, but that is clearing up now and still no sign of period.

I've phoned my GP, but just seem to get shrugged off. I feel like I don't get listened too. Has anyone else experienced this?

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Cecedayze_.

I'm sorry to hear about your symptoms and that you feel your GP is not paying your concerns enough attention. Have you tried getting a second opinion, if you haven't yet it might be a good idea to do so?

Hopefully, other members who had a similar experience will stop by soon to chat with you, as talking with those who can relate seem to help, but until then if you feel like giving our nurses a ring to ask some questions, please know they're available on this phone number 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

I hope you get this situation sorted out soon, Cecedayze_ and that these symptoms turn out to be nothing serious.

    Best wishes,

    Renata, Cancer Chat Moderator
