Hello everyone,
So recently my grandads was diagnosed with lung cancer. It came as a huge shock to all of the family. Originally he discovered some swollen lymph nodes in his neck, and after having them biopsied we were told it was lung cancer (that was the primary and it had spread to the lymph). They explained that they had tested the cells and it was showing it was 99.9% the lung. Fast forward two weeks later a hospital admission he was told by a doctor (not a lung oncology doctor) that judging by the scans they suspected the cancer would be graded at a stage 3 and was treatable but not curable. Again, another big shock. Whilst he was in hospital they repeated CT scans, xrays and ultrasounds as they wanted a full set of results before the lung team spoke with him. Anyway, yesterday the lung team have told my grandad that infact he doesn't have lung cancer and that they actually don't know where the primary cancer is. We are currently in limbo until the MDT meeting takes place and a treatment plan is put into place.
has anyone ever had any experience of this? My poor grandad and the rest of the family are beside ourselves. I don't understand how something like this can happen. Feeling very confused and scared at the moment.
