Symptomatic breast clinic appointment

Hi all, my names caitlin im 20 years old, around 2 months ago i noticed a small lump on my right breast, it soon disappeared after 2weeks. 3 weeks ago whilst laying in bed i checked myself again and found a larger lump in my left breast, my left breast also aches when i touch it. I have since gone to my gp and the nurse confirmed the lump and made a referral for a symptomatic breast clinic appointment. I was shocked to of recieved my letter from the hospital the next day. It states i will be seeing a breast surgeon.  Im just wondering, what should i expect at my appointment?. Thankyou all and hope you are keeping safe x

  • Thank! Waiting must still have been a killer! How did the appointment go? We live in anglesey and everything is like the stone age! I just hope they sort it b4 xmas! X

  • Was only last week! So na massive wait yet! I get what your saying! If you under 40 ish then maybe we not priority and that's a bit of a killer! Hope you hear soon ! We r in anglesey and even the ppstman here takes forever! Hope the hospital goes a bit faster than he does ! X

  • Not really! I hate having to wait for the appointment to

come through that's what gives me anxiety but once it's set I feel calm knowing I'm finally being seen to.

ive been twice, last year I went because of a small lump-had an ultrasound everything was ok. This year I went because of pain in my left breast, I was examined and was told it was the wall behind the breasts causing the pain, she said it was very common and she gets a lot of women with the same issue.
I use ibruprofen gel now when it gets a bit painful.

I know it's difficult waiting and then having to go

to the clinic especially at a young age! Personally I think it's just a back log from COVID that's delaying appointments.
I do feel all women and ages are a priority when it comes to the breast clinic.

  • Hi

just wondering if you’ve been seen yet? I’ve been waiting over 6 weeks now, about a breast lump, for my appointment and it’s driving the anxiety levels through the roof!
