Underarm lumps

Hello

I was wondering if anyone could help me. About 4 months ago I discovered a small lump under my right arm, I went to me GP and she was fairly sure it was a cyst, it was left at that. This lump went away, however since then I've been getting lumps that come and go under both my arms  these lumps are tender to touch. I've been back to my GP and she has referred me for an ultrasound, awaiting an appointment. Obviously I am thinking the worse, finding it all very stressful! I had 3 consecutive days with no lumps and I was so happy but now I have 3 under one arm and one under the other. Could anybody shed any light on this for me while await tests? I should almost mention the GP did a breast exam and didn't feel anything untoward.

Thanks

Tilly

  • Hello Tilly

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with some concerns about lumps in your armpit over the past few months. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about what these may be and I think most of our members here will understand how difficult this period of waiting for tests and results can be.
It's impossible for us to say what the lumps might be but hopefully the ultrasound will give your GP some answers and they will be able to offer you some reassurance about things.

If you'd like to chat things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to give them a call. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that you don't have to wait too long for your appointment.

    Best wishes,
