Swollen left tonsil, with pressure on ear cheek and neck!!

Hi everyone,

So I guess I'm here for some reassurance and some honosty and information if possible.

I have one large left tonsil , constant feeling of a lump in my throat, pressure on my left ear & cheek with pain and in my neck. My throat is getting dry constantly and it sore. When I'm eating I feel irrated on the back of my tongues and throat. And pain just inbetween my breast at the top. 

I've been to doctor a few times now but she gives me anti inflammatories says it nothing to worry about. I finally got her to refer me to an ENT but I must wait a few weeks for that.  

I dont know if my "symptoms" are heightened by my aniexty but I feel like I'm loosing my mind. I have 3 small kids 5, 3 & 2. And I'm so afraid. Literally the only thing on my mind 24/7 although I put up a brave front. My partner just won't talk about it until we have something to talk about.  

 Of course the dreaded Cancer is on my mind.

    I'm exactly the same as you, swollen left tonsil, recurrent sore throat - went to see the ENT who saw the tonsil was swollen and recommended a tonsillectomy to do a biopsy of the whole tonsils.

     

    It is happening tomorrow at 7am and I've been incredibly anxious about it, it was scheduled two months ago so it's been a hell of a 2 months just worrying about the worst - I have a little one who is 18 months and the thought of anything sinister is really stressing me out.

     

    I have a raging sore throat tonight again on the side of my enlarged tonsil and hoping that does not mean the surgery will be moved. I'm dreading the recovery but just want the stress to be over now and hopefully get positive news. 

     

    Sorry I can't be of more help but just wanted to say I feel your pain and stress and hopefully we will both get good news. They told me the biopsy can take up to 2 weeks but I suppose i'll be too busy recovering to think about it too much

    Can I ask you do you have the feeling of a lump stuck in your throat all the time??? 

     

    I understand your stress only too well!! our kids are so important. The thoughts as you said of anything sinster is just horrendous. 

     

    I hope everything goes well for you and your recovery isn't overly bad. Please let me know the outcome of your biopsy

    No I haven't felt that but i've lost quite a lot of weight and been really tired - really hope its all low immune system and not cancer but at least tomorrow is the first step towards knowing.

     

    Hope your ENT doctor is reassuring. It took forever for me to get the tonsillectomy booked even going privately but i think waiting times are a bit better now hopefully

    Hopefully the weight loss is down to the stress of it all as I no myself my appetite is gone since this all started and its really down to me being so anxious.  

     

    The covid hasn't helped with appointments and getting seen. My appointment for ENT isn't until January and the wait will drive me mad. I keep trying to tell myself that my GP isn't worried so I shouldn't be , but its not working,  Dr.Google ruined any chance of that for me. 

     

    I will be thinking of you tomorrow,  hope it all goes well

    Hi Milly did you ever figure out what was going on with your throat issue and something stuck in it. I have have been suffering same exact symptoms going on 4 months now and have had many tests.. ct scan, ultrasound, laryngoscopy... I am on omoprazole with no relief whatsoever. It is depressing me as I feel worried there is a cancer somewhere that is being missed. Definitely I know this is not all in my head. The issues I have with my throat and left side of my face is definitely real but no explanation as to what is causing this. I literally just woke up with it one morning in early january and it has been with me ever since. I know its been a long time since you've posted and I hope its because your situation has resolved and you have gone on with your life, but any insight you would be willing to give would be much appreciated!
