How long do you think I’ll have to wait?

Hi everyone, thank you in advance for any replies

so I have been having abnormal bleeding for approx 5 months, and decided to econsult the doctor

i had an internal scan and that was clear

had an examination and the doctor said she saw something 'concerning' and did the usual colposcopy referral

the colposcopy was all done in about 5 minutes, she literally took a biopsy, none of the other stuff I was expecting and was a bit vague

It all feels a bit of a whirlwind

i had abnormal cells in 2016, a clear smear 6 months later then a clear smear this february

part of me is thinking well it can't be anything scary

aprt of me worries about the rarer more aggressive cancers

i have some pain in my pelvis, back, left had side

I have had some issues with my bladder, was thinking uti

I do think perhaps I'm more aware of pains?
there's some nerve pains a bit like sciatica

sorry I'm rambling, my emotions are all over the place!

my biopsy was approx 10 days ago, my question is does anyone know the average wait time during these times and if there was something really scary, would I have been told by now?

I think what threw me the most was that the doctor could actually 'see' something and her description was a bit weird 'streaky' skin, erosion

and the person who did the colposcopy said the skin was kind of coming away anyway

  • Hello Lwhite and welcome to our forum!

Don't worry you are not rambling at all. I am not sure exactly myself what the waiting times are at the moment given the current climate but it might be worth if you haven't heard anything back in the next few days giving the hospital or your surgery a call and trying to find out more about when you are likely to get those results. Hopefully they will be able to give you a bit more of a timeframe.

I hope that you will also hear from other ladies here who have recently had to wait for biopsy results and that they will be happy to share their experience with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that it turns out to be nothing to worry about!

    Best wishes,
