Do you always get told your results from a biopsy?

Hi,

I had a core needles biopsy done on my breast on the 7th and it's been well over 2 weeks now and I still havnt heard anything. I have started to think that maybe my results came back fine which means that they don't need to contact me. Do they contact to let you know everything came back clear or only when it came back bad? I struggle with social anxiety so I am worried about calling them up about it because I don't want to put any more pressure on the nhs at this time as I know that they are very busy.
thank you

  • Hello Katiey-lee,

I'm sorry to hear about your situation and I can appreciate that you're concerned now that you noticed that your lump has grown since your biopsy, as explained in your other post.

I'm afraid I can't tell you what the reason they have not contacted yet is, but hopefully, some of our members who have gone through a similar experience will pop by soon with suggestions why this may be.

I understand that you suffer from social anxiety and feel like it's not a good idea to call your doctors at this moment, but our friendly team of nurses would be happy to chat with you if you feel like speaking to someone medically trained might help. They're available on this phone number 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

I hope all goes well for you, Katiey-lee.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Renata,

Thank you for your response! It's been 4 weeks today since I had the biopsy done and I still havnt heard anything. So I have made the decision to just leave it as I am pretty sure that if it were anything serious I would have been contacted by now. I understand that the NHS are very busy at the moments and need to focus on other things. Hopefully I'll get a letter explaining what is was some time in the future but for now I'm not fussed anymore as long as I know I am okay that's fine, and the amount of time it has been tells me that I am.

once again thank you for your help! Have a lovely day!
