Unexplained lump above collarbone

Hi everyone,

I hope this post is okay, I'm not sure what's wrong with me and I don't want to offend those who have been diagnosed but I'm so anxious right now. I'm 20 years old, and I'm at university right now. About 4.5 weeks ago, I found a small lump above my collarbone on the left side. It feels about 1cm and is oval shaped, smooth and I can move it around easily. I noticed it the day after I had a flu jab so just thought it as an effect of that. It hadn't gone away in a week so I phoned the GP and they agreed to phone in three weeks. Three weeks later and it was still there, they ordered some bloods which all came back clear. They've referred me for an ultrasound after examining it - he said it felt like a lymph node and that from feeling it there shouldn't be anything to worry about. I just keep jumping to the worst conclusions and thinking that I have lymphoma, because I've had really bad fatigue for the past few months. I had glandular fever in summer 2019, and I'm so scared that it could have caused lymphoma. So sorry for the ramble, I just don't know what else it could be apart from that.

  • Well doctor today has said let's do bloods again and possibly another scan, I asked him to check all my moles to as I'm paranoid that I now have another reason for my swollen lymph node. He has a history in Oncology which is great, so I see the same one each appointment. He is testing one mole to see if it changes size in three weeks by taking a photo today and another then to check, but he says with my bloods last time he reckons skin cancer would have shown up in the bloods. Now I'm terrified as the mole is on the shoulder by the collar bone with the swollen node, bloods are being done tomorrow though so hopefully that will help ease any worries.

interestingly my mum has also had a lump on her collar bone after her vaccine too now!

  • So since my last post the lumps are growing quickly and now I have a swelling on the side of my neck. Petrified and my ultrasound can't come quick enough. It's feeling like something is pressing on my throat.

With how quick everything is inflaming I'm hoping it's an infection

  • A blood test would be a good idea, perhaps.

    Have you had one?

    Sending best wishes

    Ro

  • No they asked when I last had bloods and that was February then booked me an ultrasound.

  • So happy everyone seems to be getting good results.  I have just joined here.  I had Pfizer covid Jab 6 days ago and 2 days after my armpit swelled up on same side, now today I have found the dreaded lump above left collarbone.  Googled it and found it could be sinister, sat in shock for 15 mins and then discovered this chat.  I'm going to wait a or week so then go doctors.  My lump moves about a bit but feels quite big and is sore to touch and my neck aches.  The one thing which I haven't seen mentioned is, the position of the jab.  I'm a nurse and know how to give an injection.  My injection was given too high up my arm and to the back and was immediately painful radiating into my shoulder and now this.  Not sure if that is a possible link for a reaction in nodes either.  Anyway good luck to everyone and hopefully it's just a side effect of vaccine. X

  • Hello,

Boy am I glad I've found this chat, as first googling was not happy googling.

I've had my booster on wednesday and because of my sore arm I noticed a bump above my collarbone. not sure if this is linked to the booster or the second jab, I just wish there was more on it, if it is causing this.

i'm going to be calling my GP this week to get it checked out.

  • I had my flu vaccine on Wednesday and have just discovered the exact same thing. Relieved to hear other people reporting the same after their flu jabs. Like you I jumped straight to the worst possible scenario! Lesson learnt, I'll never Google diagnose again!!!

  • So glad I have found this thread! I had my phizer booster 12 days ago and on day 3 post injection found a soft moveable lump near my leftside collarbone (same side as jab) it does seem to have reduced in size now to what feels more like a pea. I have been really panicking and making it sore by prodding and moving it in the hope it will disappear! The injection site seemed to be much higher than normal so I am trying to convince myself that is the cause of the lump. Will keep and eye on it and contact doctor if it doesn't go down. Hope everyone else is ok and we are all just suffering side effects of the vaccine x

  • hey

do you still have this lump
