Unexplained lump above collarbone

Hi everyone,

I hope this post is okay, I'm not sure what's wrong with me and I don't want to offend those who have been diagnosed but I'm so anxious right now. I'm 20 years old, and I'm at university right now. About 4.5 weeks ago, I found a small lump above my collarbone on the left side. It feels about 1cm and is oval shaped, smooth and I can move it around easily. I noticed it the day after I had a flu jab so just thought it as an effect of that. It hadn't gone away in a week so I phoned the GP and they agreed to phone in three weeks. Three weeks later and it was still there, they ordered some bloods which all came back clear. They've referred me for an ultrasound after examining it - he said it felt like a lymph node and that from feeling it there shouldn't be anything to worry about. I just keep jumping to the worst conclusions and thinking that I have lymphoma, because I've had really bad fatigue for the past few months. I had glandular fever in summer 2019, and I'm so scared that it could have caused lymphoma. So sorry for the ramble, I just don't know what else it could be apart from that.

  • Good Morning everyone

I have commented on this post previously but a bit of background, had my first vaccine on 25 April and a few days later, found a lump on my collarbone, panic set in and after a battle I saw my GP who didn't seem too fussed but said he would refer me for a non urgent ultrasound scan. Had that in June, the sonographer said they are seeing more and more people about this. They wanted to do a follow up and had that 10 days ago and the collarbone one has pretty much gone but there was one in my neck that was still normal and in normal limits.

I had my second vaccine a week today and a few days after and I have felt another on my neck near my throat which has set panic in again. I have to keep saying to myself that it must be vaccine related as it is too coincidental but I still worry. It feels exactly the same as the collarbone one.

has anyone else got one on their neck near their throat?

    sending best wishes xx

  • Hope you soon get some reassurance.

  • Hey! Just curious to know how you got on? I am experiencing similar lump! It moves around a lot and is above collarbone but sometimes moves over too

  • Hi Everyone. I got my pfizer vaccine on friday, and was putting on sunscreen yesterday and found a small lump on my collarbone bone, it is sore and this this pain has increased slighty throughout the nite.

I will phone GP in the morning but it is worrying. Hense why I googled last night and came across these messages.

    Thanks Geri. Xx

  • Hi Geri how is your lump?

I had my second Pfizer last Thursday and found a lump above my collarbone on the Saturday , I can really move it. I found this thread and it really put my mind at ease, I went to the doctors today and she didn't seem concerned but said she is referring my for US, I told her about this thread and she said she doesn't think mine feels like a lymph node and she thinks it's possibly a cyst..

Has anyone else had this and it been a cyst? I lost my Dad and Sister to cancer within such a close time frame and my health anxiety is just through the roof

    thank you

  • HI Amil,

Sorry to hear that and so sorry for your loss. . I now have 2 lumps. My GP thinks its a reaction to vaccine as mine was really sore and feeling a burning. She give me a antibiotic but im not seeing much of a difference. She wants me back in 2 weeks if they is no change. But hopefully we are all ok. Xx

  • After the swelling in my lymph nodes finally went down, I had he second vaccine last week, I'd say around 2-3 days later the lymph node swelling on the left collarbone and the one above was back.

This actually coincided with my ENT appointment, which was an ultrasound that all looked normal.

I'd say anyone worried should defo get it checked out, likelihood is, if it's appearing after the vaccine then it's all normal.

  • Hi Everyone

I had my 1st vaccine a week ago..a few days later I also had a lump above my collarbone.  Went to the doctors yesterday & he thinks it is to do with the vaccine, but is sending me for a scan to be on the safe side.

Reading all these comments has put my mind at rest.  But it is a very scary time when you do not know what is going on.

    Hope everybody is ok.

  • Hello

I would put money on it being the vaccine but of course get checked. This thread has helped me a lot!

    sending best wishes!

  • Hi, thought I would pop back to give an update. Had my scan last week and they were scanning for ages before saying they couldn't see anything. I can still feel it at certain times but they said it's obviously a lymph node flared up from the vaccine and whatever it was is showing nothing sinister and I'm discharged. Thank you all that have posted from the start on this thread it's such a help to read and see so many with the same thing.
