Broken

My partner had ct scan two weeks ago came back as swelling on either side of bowel and that could be infection or bowel cancer. Dr ruled out infection due to length of time had symptoms.  Referred to hospital on a 2 week referral for camera. Called hospital today to be told won't be seen within two weeks and won't even be called with an appointment in two weeks due to backlog. We are both so upset as if it is cancer more chance of spreading waiting for appointment. He has convinced himself its cancer. The waiting is soul destroying. He keeps shouting at me and I no he doesn't mean it but so hard not to take it personal. I just don't no how to make him feel better and stop him worrying.

  • I'm really sorry that your husband's referral has been delayed Heaven72. That must have been very tough news to receive especially when cancer has been mentioned.

I know there isn't much I can say or do that can make this situation any better but I hope it helps to know that our community understand what you're going through and are here for you.

I'm sure some of them will be along soon to offer their support and advice but whilst you wait I hope this information I've found will help during this anxious time.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi, I just want to send some love and support. Just hearing the word cancer, sends us naturally into a total break down. Suddenly picturing all the worst case scenarios.  And the added fact your husband has to wait for the scan adds to the worry.   As a cancer fighter.  I want you to just step back from this for now, both of you. Focus on what you do know, not want might be.   Its difficult but it will get you both through these coming weeks.  Each day that passes from today, it will get mentally easier, until the final scan day then all emotions flare up again. But do not pull apart, pull closer and find goodness in the days between now and getting the results. Every day is a blessing. I found buddhism as a way of living after my diagnosis. Meditation, walks through the woods, deep breathing, time with my children.   Keep us posted on the results. x R
