Swollen lymph node under jaw line

Hi, just looking for some advice. I'm 28 y/o male, married and have a 7 y/o son. I have a few concerns. My GP didn't really seem interested over the phone and didn't offer me a face to face appointment.

I'll keep it straight forward so it's easy to follow. Symptoms:

1) Breathlessness which can be slight to quite noticable to people around me for at least 6 months

2) cuts all over my legs (both buttocks) from itching that won't heal for at least 5 months.

3) A painless Lump just under my right jaw line (possibly lymph gland?) it's sort of a bean shape, with a minimum size of 1inch, noticed this 12 days ago and it's not getting smaller.

4) I had bloods taken about 4 weeks ago for an unrelated reason and i had a call from the clinic regarding an elevated platelet count. This was 451 so not too high but they want to take bloods again to make sure that goes back down.

5) I have been a lot more fatigued than normal for the past month, feeling a lot weaker than usual, especially my grip for some reason?.

6) My appetite has been gradually getting worse to point where I'll have tiny breakfast and a little sandwich for the day. I'm getting full so easily, to The point where the food feels like it's up to my chest. This causes me to feel sick and I feel very bloated afterwards.

7) I get occasional pain In various parts of my body which can vary day-to-day. This can range from pain in my left side abdomen, shooting pains down my ride or left-arm, sharp pains in my chest, And general dull pains In my upper body. These rarely ever get so painful that I feel the need to mention them as they generally come on go as quickly as they came.
8) I've also been experiencing frequent Nosebleeds, which started around 2 1/2 months ago, these tend to last 5 to 10 minutes before I can take off the tissue without it bleeding. I've had weeks where I've getting them most days, And weeks where I may only get them once or twice a week.

There may be more that I can't think of at the minute, however I have a deep sense that I know that something in my body just is not right at the minute. I am not a Hypochondriac by any stretch of the imagination, in fact it would do me well If I was more like that.
My GP told me yesterday (over the phone) to wait for another 4 weeks before getting another appointment to see if things are still the same (or worse).

I do intend to contact my GP before the four week period I was advised however after reading some of the posts on this forum I think It will do no harm to write out My current situation and see if I can get advice from the kind people on this forum.

kind regards

Adam

  • Hi Stella,

I'm pleased the lump has reduced in size. That's a good sign surely ? Fingers crossed you'll know soon enough!

thank you, my MRI scan is the 29th Jan so hopefully I'll know more after that.

    kind regards

  • Hi, just an update.

had my MRI and and the results come through the post yesterday. It said that the left tonsil is somewhat larger than the right however the connecting tissue around it looks normal, therefor there is no evidence thus far of a tumour or cancer. They have booked me into an ENT appointment for the 17th February so I'm quite happy that's happening quite quickly. So we will see soon enough what's going on in there!

Does this mean that there's definitely no cancer or can that only be achieved through an ENT appointment?

I'm quite relaxed about the whole situation and what will be will be.

hope this helps someone in the future and I'll update the thread no matter the results when I receive them.

    cheers

    Adam

  • Hi Adam,

So glad to hear about your MRI result, must be a relief to you. Has there been any changes to the lump under your jaw line?

I am keeping my fingers crossed for you and hope everything goes well. I had my ENT telephone consultation before I had the ultrasound sound scan, it seems yours is the other way round.

My latest update is to have a repeat ultrasound in a few month's time, no diagnosis has given yet. My lump is still there, and I can feel it.  Liked you said what will be will be, and is no point worrying about it.

I wish you well and please keep us posted.
