Ovarian cancer?

Hi,

sorry I don't know where to start. I'm 22 and for the last few months I have been in agony with my pelvis right side. I called the doctor who said she would refer me for trans vagina ultrasound. Heard nothing, went to hospital because of the pain, she said she would chase it up. Had it Sunday (yesterday). Called the doctors today and they said I must come back in the next few days to speak to the doctor. Please please can someone shed some light. Is this serious? Does it mean something that the doc wants to see me straight away?

thanks in advance

  • Hello ghostgirl98

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some health problems recently. It's understandable that you may be feeling anxious about the results of your scan.

It's easy to overthink why results come back quickly or why a Dr asks to see you but try to take each day at a time and not read too much into things. Hopefully you will be able to see your GP shortly and the scan will have given some answers about possible causes for your pain.

If there's anything you'd like to talk over with our team of nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).

    Best wishes,

  • Hi ghostgirl

I've been experiencing pelvic pain and pressure, bleeding inbetween periods and occasionally after sex, pain during sex sometimes, brown discharge, abdominal pain that extends into my back since I had my last baby 6months ago. I went to my old gp who told me I'd just had a c section so I should be in pain and I needed to live with it!! I've tried explaining that this was my 4th section and I new what the recovery should be and that something wasent right. In this time i was told I had a uti twice, a kidney infection and then they swabbed me for sti's which I told them I didn't have, I've had the same partner for 11years lol they just kept fobbing me off so I changed gps. I went to my new surgery and told them my symptoms and the gp ordered an abdominal ultrasound and a vaginal ultrasound. During the ultrasound I was told I had a large build up of fluid behind my section scar and going up into my womb and that she would write the report and send it to the gp who would call me with the results. I'm not sure if its common for the sonographer to tell the results, but I'm quite a chatty person and was babbling on and we got along quite well, during the scan as she was checking each organ she was telling me everything was OK, but then she said she needed to do the vagunl ultrasound to get a closer look at my womb and thats when she found the fluid. She said it was 'free flowing fluid' and that its kind of collected in a pocket and built up. I've now been referred to gynea, I've had telephone consultation but she wants me to go in so she can scan me and examine me. I'm telling you this to show you there is many possible reasons for the symptoms you are having, before my scan I did the same as you and rocked up to a and e convinced I had ovarian cancer, the dr checked me out and said clinically your not presenting as ovarian cancer and after tests he said 'you don't have ovarian cancer' but like you with the symptoms I was having that's the first thing that came to mind.x
