Awaiting xray and u/s on neck and chest

Hello,

Im currently going out of my mind with worry. Im 36yr mum to a three year old and im petrified that I have cancer.

I went to the doctors originally with what I can only describe as dizziness episodes back in August. They're so random and happen any time of the day. I had bloods done and came back NFA. I was convinced I had  early menopause,  thyroid problem or diabetes, so I was stumped when bloods came back clear.

In September I had a stiff neck and whilst rubbing it I came across an enlarged and hard ( like stone) cervical lymph node of left side above collar bone. I booked into the doctors ladt week as it was still noticeable  but wasn't as hard,  I was also having severe pain in my left arm. She asked how id been feeling so I told her I've not felt right since January, extreme fatigue, night sweats in mainly chest area, slight cough ( I do smoke so put that down to smokers cough) slight weight loss ( thought id lost excess baby weight) stiff neck occassionly, swollen stomach. I also had a rash on my chest which I thought was ring worm from sweating but doctor said its not ring worm?! Im now awaiting chest xrays booked for 1/12/20 and u/s 11/12/20 and my bloods were taken last Thursday along with urine test.

Im a worrier by nature so I've googled my symptoms and im scared I have melenoma. I never mentioned to my doctor that I have had alot of moles which have appeared the last 12 months. Ive also had a pink skin legion on my chin for approx four years ( pharmacist said it was svar tissue but I never had anything to cause scaring) She is testing for bence Jones protein in my urine.

Anyone experienced the same? Im thinking if my bloods showed anything id have known on Friday but with covid are results being delayed?

Sorry for rambling on. Im just so scared and can't stop crying. The unknown is having serious effects on my mental health.

  • Hi there,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read about your worries about all of this - I know it is unsettling when there is the unknown, and waiting for information or results is never easy.

It's good that you have got this checked out and it sounds as if you will find out more before too long. Blood test results can take a bit of time to come through, but I'm sure your doctor's surgery will ring when they are available.

Try to steer clear of Googling things - the information is often irrelevant or outdated and only increases worry. It's only your doctor and the medical teams who can advise on this, so try to keep yourself busy while you wait to hear more, if you can.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
