Hi
I went to see an ENT consultant after having on and off sore throat the past 9 months and he looked down my throat with a camera and said one tonsil was larger than the other. He recommended a tonsillectomy and panendoscopy
The surgery is due to take place in a week and I'm really worried about it. First of I've read recovery from tonsillectomy is horrendous in adults and so I am wondering if a biopsy and MRI could not be a first option before surgery. Is it really common to use tonsillectomy as a diagnosis tool?
I'm also really scared tobe given bad news- has anyone had an enlarged tonsil that ended up not being cancer?
Thanks in advance!
