Breast clinic referral - so scared.

Hi everyone. I'm new to this and unsure of what to write and where but basically I found a lump in my right breast. The boob has been sore a lot the last couple of months I do check them but not felt any specific type of lump until Wednesday night. Its a small pea like lump. I went to the gp and saw a locum who agreed there was definitely a lump, she did say it moved, she was very thorough but serious so I couldn't get a feel of what she may of thought. Anyway she did me a urgent referral for the breast clinic. Here in Wales it's a 2-4 week wait.

I'm only 30 and have a small child. I'm so worried that I'm going to be one of those devastating cases and I'm going to die imminently. I know this isn't rational but I'm so emotional.

Any advice on how to cope and what your experiences were is much appreciated.

    Hi there  this is so frustrating especially  before Christmas. I went 6 weeks ago to gp and she referred me to one hospital but didn't mark it urgent. The hospital  told me 6 months!! Im in ireland. Imagine waiting that long. I got her to send to another hospital  and  now have appointment next week so it will be about 7 weeks since I first found the lump. Would this be an option for you?  I wonder could she mark it urgent.

    Hope your appointment next week goes well. 

    I rang my gp and they said they did refer as urgent so not much else they can do. 

    It's through to main booking so I don't know what hospital I'll be in yet. I rang local breast clinic as they have access to my notes they still say urgent but breast clinic booking says non urgent and that's probably because its been through triage and seen my a consultant and they've deemed it non urgent. 

    Very frustrating!

    Hi.Lmjn, its a pity they didn't  at least explain to you the reason they havnt put your referral through as urgent when the dr asked for this.  I hope you get an appt sent to you soon.  Thinking of you and hoping its good news, the waiting is so hard.  Let me know xx
