25& doctor won't refer me for breast scan

So I've always had one boob bigger then the other. But lately past few months, my right one (which has always been bigger), has felt harder and lumper then normal. Admittedly ovulation- period it is worse. I feel it on both sides but primarily my right side.
I've cut down drastically on caffeine, and changed bras etc like doctor has suggested, but it's now 3 months, and my doctor won't send me for a scan because "unlikely due to you being 25" which again, I do understand but obviously it's worse for under 40s because of late diagnosis.

I already suffer really bad with anxiety and depression, and I have a little boy as well:(

how can I get my doctor to take me seriously and send me for a scan?

  • Hi if your GP refuse to refer you the only option is to go private.I know you have to first for the visit then for the referral but I think its worth your life

    Good luck

  • Ask your GP to refer you to a consultant then you pay for the initial consultation and then ask to go back on the NHS, most consultants follow their patients through the procedure so that they can follow the progression they set in place.  Good luck. Carol

  • If you feel a lump in your breast/s that doesn't feel right, go and see your doctor again and tell him that you are extremely worried and that you feel an unusual hardness in your breast. Women are told to examine our breasts from a young age, because abnormalities can occur at any age although cancer is highly unlikely at your age. He cannot know what it is withought a scan, but probably doesn't realise how worried you are.The other option is to change your doctor, but try and persist first with your current doctor.

  • I am 26 and have had the exact some worries! apart from I also have a rash at the bottom of my breast (going on to my stomach) which I was given cream for- however it has still not gone away, and this has been for a month now.

I have noticed that my right breast appears larger than normal, and also lumpier than normal, as well as some skin changes.

I am so worried- I have a doctors appointment this afternoon to express my worries, as I also suffer badly with anxiey, especially health anxiety.

If you want to talk about anything, I am here to listen x
