Please help!

Hi everyone!

I am 19 year old healthy girl, but I have a problem. Everything started about two months ago. I had sore throat, GP gave me antibiotics to drink and I was not feeling better at all. The sore throat went down but I noticed that I have swollen lymph node on the right side of my neck. It's movable but a bit hard. Then I noticed that lymph nodes under my collarbone are also swollen. You can't see them, but I can feel them when I'm pinching the skin. Also I lost 14 pounds in a month, I'm exausted all the time, have headaches for a month which are non stop and I'm experiencing night sweats with sharp abdomenal pain. My anxiety levels are going up everyday, I'm always crying and terrified that I have some type of cancer.
My GP did some blood tests and they came back clear, I have referral for ENT but I have no idea when it's going to come. I'm trying to get appointment with GP to ask for CT or MRI scan for the fourth day, but receptionist keeps telling me that they don't have free appointments.

I'm very concerned, because I have flight in a month, and I'm scared that something can happen during the flight, because I have no diagnosis and I will not know what to do. If someone is going through something simmilar please let me know! Keep it strong guys, best wishes!

  • Hello gj45,

I can imagine this is a very stressful time for you. It's reassuring that your blood tests came back clear and try not to anticipate the worst - only a doctor will be able to give you a diagnosis. Perhaps you could try and find out when this referral is going to come and whether they have any idea of the appointment date? If the appointment is before your flight, then it would be a good opportunity to ask the specialist whether you can travel and whether they think you need a CT or MRI scan. It might be a good idea to ring your surgery again and explain that you are planning to travel and that you would like to make sure it is ok for you to do so at the moment with your current symptoms and whilst you don't really have a definite diagnosis.

I hope that you will meet others who are in a similar position at the moment or have been through this in the past and that you get reassurance on all this very soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Lucie,

Thank you for your response:) I had consultation with GP so she reffered me to urgent 2 weeks Haematology service. I hope that I will get the appointment until my flight, but due to pandemic situation it can take longer.. best wishes!:)
