Chronic Constipation/Mass - Urgent Scans Worried

Hello everyone,

Posting as I'm in a pretty messed up state and very worried. I recently had a hysteroscopy to attempt to remove a Mirena coil, which was unsuccessful because it was just agony and they couldn't get into the womb.

Since then I have been 100% constipated and haven't had a bowel movement for two weeks aside from some overflow. I have been to urgent care twice and taken 20 sachets of Laxido, Senokot, Dulcolax, you name it - no movement. When I put my finger inside my bum I can feel a big mass on the other side (not in the rectum itself) - and it feels big, and hard, and immovable.

My GP called me today and said she is concerned because my symptoms are not making sense, and she wants to refer me to the surgical team for scans.

I'm absolutely terrified that I have cancer. Ovarian or colon. I had a clear colonoscopy last year around August time which was clear - does this make colon cancer almost impossible?

I'm 30 years old and have endometriosis.

Please help or any advice appreciated.

Thank you

E

  • I just thought I would let you know that I have been in this situation.  I had endometriosis and had two operations which left scar tissue on my bowel so this causes me constipation and I take medication regularly.  So please try not to worry too much about the worst case scenario.  Drink lots of fluids to help and the scan should help.  I know it's horrible and feel your stress over this, it will feel hard when you investigate as it's impacting at the anus so you feel even worse, then you don't want to eat and it becomes a viscious circle.  Let me know what happens.  All the best, Carol
