No appointments - what to do?

Hello Everyone,

My partner found a lump on his testicles just over 2 weeks ago. He got an appointment with the GP the same day as was told he would need an urgent cancer referral. 7 phone calls later and 3 hours on hold he's just been told by the hospital trust clinical secretary, "there are no appointments available anywhere, your name is on a list and you'll just have to wait."

It is like no one cares. I'm consumed with anger over their complete incompetence and being stuck in a system that just doesn't work. He's phoned the GP for further help and was told that there is nothing thy can do.

What on earth do we do?

  • Sorry your in this situation the not knowing is the worst.

not sure there's much you can do unfortunately as the test and expertise needed involve specialist team. Gp has referred as unable to do this themselves.

my hope would be although there are delays you should be seen fairly quickly. Although covid impacting they still have strict guidelines and will be working towards the 2 week as much as possible. I think if there are any changes or additional symptoms phone up gp or direct as they may agree to prioritise  I know it may not alleviate your worries but Statistically 9 out of 10 2 week referrals are not found to have cancer.

  • I have the same problem my gp send a 2 week referral to the breast clinic over a month ago and I'm still waiting on a appointment, they are so behind. It's making me crazy I'm so scared as I have a long list of cancer in my family and I've got a few of the symptoms plus lumps. I'm only 24. It's the COVID crap everyone is behind and it's killing us
