Lump in Breast

Hi,

im 20 years old and whilst getting ready to get in the shower tonight i found a hard lump in my breast. I don't really have any to confide in or seek support from due to losing my mum last christmas to cancer.

I have training for my new job all this week and will try and get a GP appointment as soon as possible but in the meantime was hoping someone could give me advice on what to expect.

Thank you(:

  • Hi Chloe

    So sorry about your mum.

This is from my experience, I am having my ultrasound in a week and half at the breast clinic.

When you you go to the GP they will examine you and if they feel like the lump needs to be examined further they will refer you to your local breast clinic.

The breast clinic aim to see everyone within 2 weeks. Some people have found this has taken longer in some areas so it might be worth asking at your appointment how long the waiting time is if they refer you.

At the breast clinic you would have an examination and any necessary tests if needed like an ultrasound and/or biopsy. Most clinics are one stop clinics so everything is done there and then.

Good luck with your new job and your appointment
