I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. It won't be too long now until your son's apopintment but I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting to find out more. 

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. There are also useful tips on how to cope while waiting for important news on this page. 

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

I hope everything went well. 

   My son is 21 and similar to yourself I noticed a swelling last week. The GP said it wasn't his lymph nodes and we now have an appointment at the head and neck clinic next week. Like yourself I am beside myself with worry. He is saying he noticed it   3-4 years ago but didn't think to mention it. It is only visible when he turns his head to one side.
