I’m scared I have Lymphoma

Hi,

I'm currently 21 and I felt a lump in my groin 3 weeks ago. I went to the doctor and he said your body is fighting an infection and I was given antibiotics. Since then I've had intense stomach pains, chest pains, I'm finding it harder to breathe and my asthma pump is barely helping, I'm sweating every night, my feet and hands itch and I've had heavy ovulation bleeding.

I had another course of antibiotics and have since had hard painless lymphnodes swell behind my ear, nape of neck, one just below these two, one in my jaw and one on the other side of my neck. I've had no signs of any type of infection. I was sent for a chest xray and blood test to check for anything, my X-ray was fine but my blood test showed an increased amount of lymphocytes. Ive been referred to a haematologist, but I am so so so terrified as I don't know what else it could be that is wrong with me.

I know that of course nobody on here can diagnose me, I just hoped someone could share their experiences, to calm my mind a little bit.

  • Hello tiedye123,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long to be seen by the haematologist. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting to find out more.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
