Cyst on ovary

Hello. I recently went to the doctors after a very heavy period. I fact it was the heavsit period I've ever had (changing a super tampon and towel every 40 mins) and still leaking and losing big clots. I had a blood test as I felt very breathless and tired and they found I was anaemic. On Sunday (just gone) I had an ultrasound (internal and external) and they found a 7cm cyst on my left ovary and possible signs of endometriosis. The lady doing the scan said it looked like the cyst was benign but she couldn't say 100%. She said she though the doc might refer me to a gynaecologist. I've had more bloods taken on Wednesday and the doctor is calling me on Monday to discuss. I've since had another period and it's was VERY lift and lasted 3 days compared to my normal 5-7 days. I've got a 14 yr old and an 11 year old and I'm quite scared. I'm hoping the ultrasound lady is right and it's nothing to worry about but I am very anxious. Has anyone been through similar? X

  • Hello Tess123,

Welcome to our forum. It is normal to feel anxious especially as you are waiting to find out more but hopefully you will get some clarity when you speak to the doctor tomorrow. It is reassuring that the lady doing the scan told you that the cyst was benign but obviously I can understand that you would like to have confirmation of this. You should be getting some answers tomorrow as the doctor will be ringing you to discuss your blood results and I just wanted you to know we are keeping everything crossed for you.

I hope that you will hear from others who have been through something similar before and that they will be along shortly to share their story with you.

Good luck for your chat with the doctor tomorrow. I hope it all goes well.

    Best wishes,

  • Hello I've heard back from doctor and my CA125 level is 115. The doctor said she is referring me to a gynaecologist and I should get an appointment in 2 weeks.  I'm obviously worried but I've been told that a high CA125 can be a marker for other things too eg endometriosis. Does anyone know what happens at a first gynaecologist appointment? X

  • Hello there ,
