Problems in mouth

Early July I had an awful taste in my mouth that I have never felt before and can not fully describe, nothing would take it away, this continued for a week and then went away.

during late august I started getting moderately painful tooth pain and ulcers on my mouth which would come and go every few days often on the tip of my tongue, this has continued for about three months. I have spoken to my dentist who tells me it is inflamed papillae  and aphthous ulcers. There was no alarm bells for anything sinister and my mouth seems healthy.
however I now have red spots on the roof of my mouth and a feeling as if there is something stuck on the back of my tongue, I can't swallow without clenching my tongue muscles afterwards and it feels as if there is something foreign on my tongue (at least I think it is on my tongue) that I can't seem to get rid of - this feeling has been there for about a week.

my mouth problems have been constantly there for three months now and I am very worried. I am 19, non smoker, relatively healthy female. Any words of advice on what you think this is would be appreciated. I have an appointment for the doctor and don't want to wait to hear what their thought are because it is causing me a lot of distress so any words of wisdom would be great!

  • Hi Keke,

The problem with apthious ulcers is they tend to recur. Can be due to digestive problem as can the bad taste you had.

Are you vegetarian? When you see dr it may be a good idea to get your b12 and folate levels checked as being low in these can cause mouth ulcers.I have to take b12 shots for anaemia but still get ulcers.

Im sure your gp will be able to put your mind at rest. Im afraid none of us are in a position to say what you are experiencing. Try not to distress yourself. You have seen your dentist and they said ulcers so take heart in that and stop overthinking thing before seeing gp.

I had oral cancer and believe me I knew I had it. Its just so different from the usual mouth sores.

Take care and good luck at drs xx
