Anxious about biopsy results

Hi everyone, I have been reading a few posts on here and thought posting one might help me.  Two sunday's ago I noticed what looked like a thumb print just above my right nipple.  I instantly felt sick with worry and managed to get a video appointment with a GP the next day who referred me for a triple exam that Friday.  I fully expected to go in and be told it was nothing, which is what happened on my initial consultation, but to 'put my mind at ease' they sent me for an ultrasound where they found a clearly defined 0.8cm mass right below the dimpled area of breast.  I had 4 biopsies taken from that area and am going for the results at 6pm tomorrow evening. I am absolutely beside myself with worry, I'm working from home on my own every day and am finding it almost impossible not to sit here in tears all day through worry.  Although my husband is being a great support I just wanted to share how I feel with some people who have been through it themselves.  I'm not generally an anxious person but really do feel very low and hopeless this week.

  • Hello KatoPotato

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently needed biopsies on a breast lump. How did you get on at your appointment yesterday? I hope that the Consultant was able to give you some answers and reassurance.

If there's anything you'd like to talk to one of our nurses about you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040 (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm).

Do let us know how you get on if you're able to.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Jen, thanks for your reply, sorry I didn't spot it sooner!  Thankfully, my biopsy showed that I had a fibroadenoma and no further action was needed, I've never been so relieved.

I hope my experience helps someone else going through the agonising wait for their results, it isn't always the bad news you're fearing.
