BROWN LINE and circle IN WLE

My partner had WLE for his stage 2 melanoma about 3-4 months ago, the last month a brown line appeared that starts from the side of his scar and goes into the middle of his scar then into a squiggly ball, could this be a freckle? Or something he should get checked? His just had his review cancelled for the 5th time.
His original melanoma was 2.3mm deep.

  • Hello SB94

I'm sorry to hear that there are some concerns about your husbands scar and the mark that has appeared on it.

I think it would certainly be sensible to get in touch with his GP or Consultant to explain your concerns and hopefully they will be able to arrange to see your husband or offer some reassurance about things.

Do let us know how he gets on.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Jenn,

    thanks for your reply.

The hospital have arranged another appointment for mid December so fingers crossed they don't cancel this one!

will let you know how he gets on.

    many thanks

  • Hi – I think you should e-mail a photo to your GP if you can. Your GP may want you seen within 2 weeks. The GP will know what to do. If you can't e-mail, maybe you can post a photo through to the GP. I had a recurrence of pigment in a scar and my GP e-mailed a photo of it through to the hospital who checked against the pathology. In my case it was related to a dysplastic mole not melanoma and the recurrence wasn't from the original lesion removed but one with less dysplasia – so something else got nicked and regrew. I don't think you should rely on an appointment that is weeks away and may or may not go ahead. GP and hospital best placed to assess what this is just in case there were some stray melanoma cells left behind.

Hospital had emphasised to me best to use 2WW urgent referral system if new lesions or worrying changes between appointments rather than rely on routine appointment system. The changes you describe are new changes that need evaluating urgently by your GP.X
