Waiting for Biopsy Thyroid results

Hello all,

I am new to the site.

I had a Thyroid scan booked in for 28th October and then whilst there I had a Biopsy. I thought she said I would hear by phone call but i havent heard anything and a hospital appointment arrived for 24th November and arrived 2 days after my Biopsy which does seem quick especially during covid pandemic. When i spoke to my GP she asked if i had heard from the Biopsy but said that she didnt know the result. I know I shouldnt read into things but im convinced that I have cancer. Could my GP with hold that information and decide to let me wait until seeing the surgeon/endocrine consultant. help im worried!

  • Hi

Sorry to hear what you are going through. Not sure if it helps but I am going through something similar. My GP told me she would give me the results but when I called on Friday they changed their mind and said I needed to speak to consultant. I have a telephone appointment on 19th November. I think the best thing to do is not look at what the circumstances might be telling me, I tried guessing whether the length of time and phone call was positive. I came to the conclusion that I was driving myself mad, so I am trying to keep myself busy, planning things for after my appointment so it doesn't feel like that that appointment is my sole focus. And just think that every day that passes is one day closer to the end of a lengthy diagnosis journey. Not sure if that helps but hang in there.

  • Hello,

    Thank you for your reply.

I think that its so easy to read into things and I guess it wouldnt help to know yet anyway until questions can be asked to the specialist consultant. Is your result for Thyroid too?

I have been trying to keep busy and not over think but i have found I am bit distracted atm and have to keep trying to wait until the appointment. Ive felt a little down but I dont know the result yet so trying to stay positive. hope that your appointment goes well and the wait isnt too bad for you x

  • It certainly is easy, and feels like a bit if a rollercoaster at times. Mine is lymph nodes, had a lump in my neck end of August, my GP found another lump in my groin mid September and I have been going through the process since then. I now have 10 lumps in total. I can't wait for 19th to hopefully get some answer so I feel your pain with the uncertainty, waiting and coming up with your own answers.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
