Extreme sarcoma anxiety and worry.

Hi, I have recently had an mri and an appointment with a doctor about a 7cm lump in the back of my lower head/neck.

I had it checked July last year and got told it was not malignant as they couldn't see any blood flow to it. However this recent appointment they have stated there is a high chance it could be a sarcoma.

I haven't slept well, I haven't eaten or exercised. I used to train in the gym 5 days a week, had an athletic level of fitness and never struggled with weight loss due to bodybuilding and easily putting on weight.

If I need a surgery to get this tumour removed, what are the chances of me surviving this op? All I see is negativity everywhere and I want some success stories to ease my anxiety and give me some hope that it'll all be fine.

thanks

  • Hello jamtrain and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry about what you were told at your most recent appointment. It's completely understandable and natural to be worried but if you can, try not to think too far ahead until you know more.

As I'm sure you know, exercise can be a really good stress buster so if you are able to get yourself back to doing some, even if it's just 5-10 minutes, it will help you to relax a little and make it easier to manage your worries. There are some tips on the NHS Every Mind Matters website that may prove useful as well.

In the meantime if you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you can contact them on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,
