Bone lesion found

Hi Im found out last week i had a bone lesion in my tibia bone after having an MRI scan. The dr said they think its a cyst but also said their was a small percent chance of cancer but not to loose my sleep over it. But if it was so small why have i had to have an urgent CT scan and another MRI scan if they think its a cyst? has anyone else been in this situation and what was your outcome?

  • Hi,

Not exactly the same experience as you but I just wanted to share my story so far. I had a chest xray at A and E back in Aug following a viral infection which luckily was all clear. However, 3 weeks later I had a phone call from the hospital saying that on the xray they had spotted something on my upper right arm. I was asked to go and meet a consultant who told me that I have a mass/tumour on the bone in my upper right arm which came as a total shock. He did say that he thought it was more than likely to be benign but I had to go for an mri scan to investigate further. The scan was a week ago and I am waiting for the results.

For the last few months I have had some pain in my arm on and off and initially didn't think anything of it but it has got a bit worse, mostly just a dull ache but quite discomforting so I keep thinking the worst and that it must be growing! I can feel my tumour under the skin, about 2-3cm too.

Really hope that you are doing ok.

  • I could not weight bare all of a sudden so i went to a&e the took amd x-ray and said the bones werent broke so wasnt sure my i was in pain when i tried to walk. They then sent me jome on crutches and to be reviewed in clinic by orthopaedic dr. About a week later i had a call from the dr saying the radiologist has requested for an MRI scan and that is how they found the lesion in the bone. But i have read that if they think its a cyst they wouldn't want further investigations. Im just worried i suppose with them scanning me 5 times. I should get my results in 2 days.
