I don't want to worry you but I was in a situation where my doctor didn't put me through for an urgent referral even though it was increasing in size. I went private and turned out the lump needed further investigation. Now in the process of finding out what it actually is. 

If you are so worried that you can't wait the six months, maybe you could look into doing the same? Did your GP say that it would need an ultrasound? 

Hi, Thanks for your reply. The waiting lists are long here ( Im in Ireland) and i think the fact that she didnt mark it urgent. I called to see if she can refer me to another hospital with shorter waiting list.  She said more than likely it was a fibroadenoma. I still think 6b months is way to long to wait in case it is something.. how did your lump feel ?Hope you get on ok with your tests and are not waiting to long.

Yeah things take a very long time when it isn't urgent. 'More than likely' isn't very reassuring to me. I agree it is a long time to wait, too long in my opinion. If you have any doubts at all, push to get it checked out sooner.  I was told that mine was a lipoma after finally getting a physical appointment, nothing to worry about. Then I had an ultrasound and was told that they can't actually tell what it is so I got an urgent referral to the sarcoma unit, wasn't pleasant receiving that letter. My lump is immovable, painless and quite hard, which is why I didn't believe that it was simply a lipoma. Thank you, I have had an MRI so awaiting the results. I hope things are ok, the waiting is torture. 

I hope you can get seen to quickly, if you feel something isn't right, see a different doctor at your practice and see if they feel as though the referral should be urgent.
