Terrified and could do with some support

Hi everyone

I've just been placed on the two week wait referral path after having symptoms akin to bowel cancer for quite a while now. I've had bloating, stomach pains, loud noises from my stomach, constipation and diarrhoea, loss of appetite and  I'm losing weight really fast & have pretty much convinced myself I'm going to have cancer.

waiting for the hospital to get back to me in the next day or so to find out what kind of endoscopy they're going to carry out, my guesses is a colonoscopy.

this is absolutely terrifying as I'm only 28 & have 2 kids which I can't bear the thought of leaving if I do have cancer.

I know I shouldn't worry about having cancer before a diagnosis but all things are pointing towards it as I've had all blood tests, all urine and fecal tests and nothing was found.

Any advice or support would be really appreciated.

  • Hi Joe,

Unfortunately all I can offer is empathy as I'm in a similar place (though older my 2 kids are primary age).

Following my x Ray I seem to be having lots more symptoms. I cant  believe symptoms would change this quickly and coincide with an x Ray.

I think anxiety can be very powerful and whilst I'm thinking pretty rationally now, I wasnt 90 minutes ago.

I keep telling myself that diagnosis is an 'if'  not a when. Probably doesn't help but know you're not alone.

    Take care,

    D
