Awaiting biopsy results suspected lymphoma?

Hi all

Just over a month ago I found a grape size lump above my right collar bone. After x rays and a chest CT they have now found several upper and lower tracheal enlarged lymph's plus anterior mediastinal ones. I have a couple of nodules in my right lung, on my adrenal glands and soft nodules on the front of the spleen plus small lesions on T-1 and T-5 vertebrae bodies. Most are between 2-3cm in size. I had a biopsy on my right supraclavical lymph which I am waiting for the results on and have a ct booked for this week for an abdominal CT. It has been the longest month of my life. I have lost so much weight in 4 weeks and can't tell if it's because of anxiety or something else. Since my first GP visit I have more cervical nodes enlarging more towards the back of my neck.
Waiting is so frightening.....one moment I feel strong and the next absolutely terrified. The more lumps I find the more I think it feels like it's just spreading fast and it panics me. Anyone else waiting for biopsy results?

  • Hi! Unfortunately I haven't had a biopsy but I do have many swollen lymph nodes everywhere. I have been for an MRI on my neck where they confirmed I have 'lots of swollen lymph nodes', and a CT scan on abdomen where they also confirmed more swollen lymph nodes. Despite feeling unwell, they have said that they are confident it's not lymphoma. They suggested it could be glandular fever but couldn't say for sure (which given the fact I've had it before creates more questions as you develop immunity to it!), But alas, it's a bit reassuring.

The best thing you can do for now is to try and relax and wait for the appointment, but I know how hard that is. If you're anything like me, stay off Google and stop trying to self diagnose. You put the word lymph node in Google and nothing good comes of it. I hope the results are positive for you and that you don't have to wait too long.

  • Hi

Thank you for your reply, yes google is terrible in these situations ! It's very hard to stay away from it thou, the waiting for weeks for results drives you crackers !

I really hope everything turns out all ok for you too thank you

  • Hi... I wondered if you had an update on your results? I'm worried sick I have lymphoma. I've found multiple little lumps in my upper and middle abdomen area. I don't know if they're lymph nodes or lumps! Some hurt a bit and some don't. You can't see them, only feel them when pressing down a bit across my stomach. I've got slightly elevated liver enzymes show up on blood tests and am having a liver scan soon. Doctor doesn't seem concerned as liver is only slightly elevated and has actually reduced from 74 to 43, rather than increase. I keep wondering if they're just fatty tissue as I do have a lot of tummy fat but I swear I've not felt these lumps there before. The rest of my blood tests are fine. I've recently had some abdominal pains with nausea and stomach rumbling constantly which weirdly has now fixed itself without treatment. I generally feel unwell and also have a b12 deficiency. I get breathless sometimes but this is very intermittent. Feeling so scared right now. I hope you got some good news. Thanks.

  • Hi

I only had the one round lump above my collar bone  and no other symptoms but I was diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin's lymphoma and started chemotherapy in December. If you worried then speak to your GP, I know not knowing what or of something is wrong is very worrying and I hope you get an answer soon x

  • Thank you. I am so sorry to hear that .. I hope your treatment goes successfully. I am worried like mad about these bumps but am hoping it's just raised nodes from a recent tummy bug or even fatty tissue as my tissue seems to be quite lumpy in general. But some of the areas hurt/tender to the touch. I read back on your past posts and find it bizarre how your blood results came back fine; this is what worries me... often things don't get picked up! Hopefully I'll get seen quickly.

i hope all goes well for you! Xx
