Breast Clinic Tomorrow

Hi All,

Posted last night but got no replies. Just very nervous about tomorrow's appointment. 2 years ago was told i had periductal mastitis. My current symptoms are very visible heavy swelling and pain on left breast and red spots under the breast and odd itching for 12-14 weeks now. I have recently been diagnosed with underactive thyriod and on levothyroxine 50mcg. I did ask my gp about the periductal mastitis and she said she did not think it was and did not think this was caused by levothyroxine either but referred me as urgent to breast clinic.

Please would really appreciate your replies. I am very nervous

  • I don't have any information to help you. Just wanted to wish you good luck for tomorrow and hope you are keeping yourself busy.

  • Thank you Xx Yes, was till noon and then got very nervous..hence the panic typing. Got a load of uniforms to iron so that should keep the eve occupied and early bed after that Xx

  • no advice im afraid. i have been waiting 8 months for an appointment at breast clinic. just wanted to wish you luck for tomorrow. i know its easier said than done but try and get some sleep tonight and im sure it will all work out ok. leave us know how you get on

  • Ive being taking levothyroxine 200mg for around 16 years, and its never caused any problems.

I was referred to the breast clinic back in April/ may after they found a lump on a CT scan I had for my womb cancer, they were very nice and let my husband wait with me in waiting room, (covid) I don't think they were supposed to but they said it was quiet so saw no problem, then took me to be first examined, then they took me for an ultrasound, they said it looked like fibroadenoma straight away, (2.7 cms) they wanted to do a biopsy, but because im on blood thinners they were unable to, they said they were not worried about it which was reassuring I'm sure they can easily tell the difference. I have no pain from it and can't feel it, occasionally I get a burning sensation. They knew I was to get another CT in a few months to check on my cancer in my womb and a couple of lung nodules they found at the same time they found my breast lump. I had that CT scan in September (3 months late) they said they had being no changes for both my breast and lungs, ( had to wait longer for CT due to covid) The relief was immense....  it was a great big worry off my mind,  I currently on hormone therapy for my cancer, which is working, here's hoping they will soon do surgery to remove it, its being delayed due to covid and heart problems.

I wish you all the best with tomorrow hopefully you will have some idea whats going on. The hardest part is the waiting and the not knowing, paranoia can set in with every ache, pain. Take one day at a time and be kind to yourself.

  • Hi All,

Thank you for all your replies. I am back home..

The doc did an examination and looked into my history of having periductal mastitis and said sometimes after the mastitis is recovered one might get pain and hardness. The next step is for a scan and he said im sure it wont be anything but to be on safe side. So now i have to wait for this scan appointment.

P-S- my breast has balooned up and its painful and hard after the examination.. is this ok?
