Bloods post breast biopsy - usual?

Hi all, this is my first post. Had mammograms, ultrasound and breast biopsy on Wednesday. Post biopsy I was told probability of lobular cancer (4 out of a scale of 1-5) and given a follow up appt. Bloods were taken before I left clinic to look at liver and bone or that was my interpretation. I spoke with the breast nurse but forgot to ask about this. Is it usual to take such bloods at this stage? Also what do you do when you're awake at 3am worrying! Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Bluedot,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I hope you're getting on OK although I can imagine this must be unsettling. The bloods may have been taken as a precautionary measure or to find out more, but to be honest I can't really advise on this - it may be best to wait for your results and to discuss any questions with your doctor if you can.

I know the uncertainty is difficult and this may be contributing to your worries. Hopefully once you find out more then this will help, and you can take any potential next steps that need taking.

Try to keep yourself busy to keep your mind off things if you can, and take things a day at a time.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
