Small rubbery moveable lump on left side neck

Hi there,

I've had a small rubbery moveable lump on the left side of my neck for as long as I can remmeber (last 7/8 years). It's size is slightly larger than pea sized but smaller than a 1 pence in size (a couple cm I would say). It has never changed in size and it's not visible at all on my neck as it's deeper under skin.

I've never had it checked because I am only 22 and first noticed it when I was much younger. I didn't think much of it. It's always there and I rarely notice it but recently, having more awareness of lumps/cancer - when I do notice it I get worried. It is painless and I've had it for years and years so it's probably nothing to be worried about but should I get it checked anyway?

I don't have any persistent symptoms other than abdominal pain related to my periods and tiredness which I think could be related to a vitamin deficiency or something.

Any advice appreciated!

  • Hi Imr151,

As you say, it's unlikely anything to be worried about, especially if it's been there a long time with no change.

However, it may give you peace of mind to speak to your GP about it. If you feel you are thinking about it a lot and that you have some concerns, then give your doctor a call and hopefully this will help.

    All the best,
